How-To: Add a video on my website


For optimal website performance and user experience, it is recommended to host videos on a streaming platform such as  Vimeo (paid option) or YouTube.

You can then integrate these videos into your website in two ways:

Option 1: Embedding a Video Directly on the Hero Section

This option replaces existing hero images with a video that plays directly on the page. For this approach, we recommend creating two (approximately 15-20 seconds long) versions of your video:
  • A landscape version for desktop screens
  • A portrait version for mobile screens

To embed the video:

  1. Open the Hotelwize app and navigate to the Homepage section.
  2. Locate the video section and paste the video id from the URL of the streaming platform.
  3. Enter the text for the call to action button (e.g. VIEW VIDEO).
  4. Configure the following video playback options:
    • Autoplay (Note: Autoplay may be restricted by some browsers, particularly on mobile devices)
    • Loop (Choose whether the video repeats continuously or plays once)
    • Mute (Choose whether the video plays with sound or is muted; muted is the suggested option)
    • Hide on Mobile (Choose whether the video is hidden on mobile devices)
  5. Add a placeholder image that will be shown until the video loads or when it is paused.
  6. Click "Save."
  7. Publish your website to launch the changes.

Option 2: Linking to the Video on a New Page

This option adds a call to action button to your homepage. Clicking this button opens a new page where the video plays directly from the streaming platform.
To implement this:
  1. Open the Hotelwize app and navigate to the Homepage section.
  2. Locate the video section and paste the video URL from the streaming platform.
  3. Enter the text for the call to action button (e.g. VIEW VIDEO).
  4. Set the video target to "New tab."
  5. Click "Save."
  6. Publish your website to launch the changes.
Notes
Please note that videos can also be included in internal pages (besides homepage), depending on the design of each canvas.
